Birch Sauna Whisk | Birch Quast
Massage by gently striking with a birch whisk:
- relaxes muscles
- helps with pain
- helps relieve tension
- stimulates circulation
Birch leaves contain a valuable essential oil that has bactericidal and anti-inflammatory effects. Birch is also considered refreshing and cleansing. Birch is a particularly good and pleasant natural inhaler.
Take some time for your whisk massage.
As a general rule, the temperature should not be too high.
You will achieve an optimal effect at 70-90 degrees.
Start with a light tapping massage on the legs, moving up to the hands, over the arms, stomach and chest, and finally over the back.
By striking with the whisk, blood circulation is stimulated and a feeling of relaxation sets in. The various essential oils facilitate breathing, cleanse the body, and detoxify.
Preparation of birch, oak, and linden whisks:
For most sauna whisks, the following procedure is recommended:
- First, rinse the sauna whisk briefly with cold water.
- Place the whisk, handle down, in a heat-resistant container.
- Pour hot, but no longer bubbling boiling water, only over the lower part of the branches (approx. 10–12 cm).
- Cover the container with cling film or a lid and let the whisk steep for about 20 to 30 minutes.
This method gently moistens the sauna whisk without the leaves absorbing unnecessary water or losing their firmness.
Tip
Use the soaking water for an infusion or hang the whisk on the wall and spray it with a little water a few times during your sauna bath. This way, the natural oak scent can unfold in the room!
Care and storage of sauna whisks
With proper care, your sauna whisk will remain supple longer and can be used multiple times – depending on use and condition.
After the sauna session, the whisk should be thoroughly rinsed with clear water to remove sweat and residues. Then gently shake out excess water and let the whisk dry in a well-ventilated, shady place. Direct sunlight and heating warmth should be avoided, as they can make the leaves brittle and cause them to fall off more quickly.
Once completely dry, it is best to store the sauna whisk in a dry, cool, and light-protected place. This will preserve its natural properties for as long as possible.
Tip
Use the water for an infusion or hang the whisk on the wall and spray it with a little water a few times during your sauna bath. This way, the natural oak scent can unfold in the room!
